Knife sharpening, I’m looking to buy a good electric knife sharpener. has any one used a good one.?

i want to be able to do both straight blade and serated edges.

    there are plenty of good knife sharpeners on the market, but i strongly recommend a Kenwood, they have a range of prices, pick a good one for all types of knives.(theres a bit of sharp advice for you,ha ha.)

    Whatever you get, be sure to also get a good sharpening steel, the vaguely rough steel rod for final sharpening. This ensures that the edge is not microscopically folded over. Use this every three times or so you use your knives, and you will hardly ever have to truly sharpen again.

    agree with Lawnboy, but use the steel every time you get a knife out. A few quick passes on it will keep it sharp for a very long time.
    That said, electric sharpeners are not too good. they typically give you a so-so edge and the wear the blade down quickly. If you can afford, it, have your knives professionally sharpened every few years.

    I suggest the Samurai Shark. You can use it for regular or serrated edges.

    It is small enough to fit in yout pocket.
